Following Charles Oliveira’s upset victory against Beneil Dariush last night, many are wondering if a rematch against Islam Makhachev is next.

In their prior bout at UFC 281 last October, Makhachev opened as a -300 favorite (Oliveira +250) at BetOnline but was bet down to -240 by fight night. The odds are even more tilted this go round.

"We opened Makhachev as -400 chalk (Oliveira +330) on Sunday, but the early action has moved the line down," BetOnline revealed Sunday.

In 25 bouts Makhachev has a single loss. four of those were by knock out while another 11 were by submission.

Oliveira called for the rematch as soon as he left the ring.

“I want to be champion,” Oliveira said when asked if he wants to rematch the man that beat him via second-round submission for a vacant title this past October. “Who’s the champion? He’s got the belt? That’s it? Let’s go.”

We should know soon enough. UFC President Dana White has promised an answer "by Tuesday" (June 13).

I’m excited for him and Islam to fight again. It’s the thing that makes sense. I’ll tell you on Tuesday.

“Let’s not play games, that fight makes sense, that’s the fight that should happen. And I’m excited to see it again.”
