Marcel Hirscher was the favorite to take home the gold medal for both the Giant Slalom and the Slalom.
The Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer competes primarily in slalom and giant slalom, as well as combined and occasionally in super G. He is the winner of 55 World Cups, second only to Swede Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 86.
Though Hirscher is the runaway favorite to win the Giant Slalom, he has competition in the Slalom event from Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen. Hirscher is the -175 favorite to win gold for that one. Kristoffersen was coming in at +250 odds.
