Odds to Win Men’s Basketball Tournament 2016 Summer Olympics
The odds of winning the Men’s Basketball tournament at this summer’s Olympics in Rio had Team USA as the definitive -1200 favorite.
Spain at 10-1 odds, followed by France, Serbia, Brazil, Argentina and Lithuania each had the next shortest odds.
Team USA will be led by all-stars Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony while Lebron James and Stephen Curry will be noticeably absent.
The Spaniards, led by Paul Gasol, certainly have value with a potential $100 payout on every $10 wagered.
He is one of 34 National Basketball Association (NBA) players competing in this summer’s Olympics representing teams outside the United States.
Team USA is hardly invincible, having lost in 2000 to Argentina, though they have won five of the last six Olympic gold medals for Men’s Basketball.
"It would mean the world," said Gasol of beating the US. He will be making his fourth Olympic appearance in Rio. "It would mean so much. But it's extremely hard, that's why it would mean so much if we could have a chance to get it."
