  • The Women's 200m Freestyle event is Australia vs. Australia as only two swimmers from the land down under have single digit odds to win.
  • Ariarne Titmus (AUS) is the odds-on favorite, but not might much.
  • Mollie O'Callaghan is the value pick paying out $120 on a $100 bet.

Ariarne Titmus (AUS) is the odds-on favorite to win the 200m Freestyle gold at this year's Summer Olympics in Paris. She's priced at -120 and this competition will be between Titmus and Mollie O'Callaghan, also of Australia.

O'Callaghan is priced at -120 odds.

Titmus is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 200-metre and 400-metre freestyle, winning gold in both at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

She is the world record holder in the long course 200-metre freestyle and 400-metre freestyle events.

But the 2024 Olympics almost didn't come to fruition for her.

In September 2023, Titmus was managing an ongoing hip injury when the doctors found something else in a routine MRI.

A large growth was found on my right ovary," the swimmer disclosed in an Instagram post. "For anyone that knows me, they’d know I’d give up anything in the world to be a mother, it’s my biggest dream so this was a scary time for me."

O'Callaghan was the 2023 world champion in the women's 100m and 200m freestyle individual events, and part of the world champion 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m Australian women's relay teams together with 4 × 100 m mixed relay team. She previously held the world record in the women's individual 200m freestyle.

She won two gold and one bronze in the 2020 Summer Olympics as a heats swimmer in relay events.

The 19-year-old broke Titmus' 200m world record back in July at the World Championships.

O'Callaghan believes this event is hers to win with a $120 payout for every $100 bet.

"It's definitely about racing with the mental aspect, you can be physically drained, but you need to stay mentally strong and push through it," said O'Callaghan. "I wanted to do well tonight to see how I’d go, for me coming off worlds, having a break, then doing rehab, then getting sick for three weeks, I was mentally down and a bit up and down for a while.

"I was nervous about if I had done enough work to catch up so truthfully it’s nice to get my main event done first up. Everyone knows I’m a bit of a nervous racer, especially for this one, it’s my baby at the moment, I’m not going to lie, I’ve put a lot into it, and it’s nice to get it done."
