Oscar Aftermath

The Academy Awards are becoming the most predictable awards show in the world.

Last night, comparing against the numbers we offered, 21 of the 23 category favorites ended up taking home the Oscar. Yawn.

The two upsets weren't even that big either. Emma Stone was an underdog (3/2, +150) to Lily Gladstone (2/5, -250) for Best Actress.

Also, "The Boy and the Heron" with 1/1 or +100 odds upset "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse," which was the favorite for Best Animated Feature Film at 1/2 or -200 odds.

“It’s madness how far in advance the Oscars are clearly known, and not just by Academy insiders, but by seemingly everybody,” BetOnline Sportsbook Manager Adam Burns said. “It might come to a point where we only offer odds on whether the favorite DOESN’T win and those odds will be huge!”

BetOnline has set odds for how many upsets (based on odds on Sunday 2025 show date) will happen next year. The over/under is set at 1.5 upsets. More yawns.
