The Director of Harvard Medical School's Division of Addictions has gone on record as saying the online casinos are less addictive than their land-based counterparts.

Dr. Howard Shaffer  stated:  "The very first thing we learned (studying Internet gambling patterns), which we didn't expect, was that the vast majority, the overwhelming majority of gamblers online gamble in a very moderate and mild way."

He went on to find that the rate of problem gambling has remained about the same over the past twenty years even though the amount of people gambling has increased over this same time period.

Despite claims by the scientific community that increased gambling would result in increased addiction, the doctor says this is far from the case.

He goes on to say that online casino prohibition is unenforceable and simply will not work.
