Regulated PA Sports Betting Sites

There are currently 13 sports betting companies regulated in the state of Pennsylvania.  They are:

DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, BetRivers, BetMGM, SugarHouse, FOX Bet, Betway, Unibet, PointsBet, Barstool, Betfred, betPARX.

Restrictions and Tax

Remote registration (via the app or online) is available throughout PA.  Gamblers can expect to be taxed on winnings greater than $600. Additionally, Pennsylvania has a flat-rate personal income tax of 3.07% for all taxable income — including gambling and lottery winnings.

Unibet Website Keeps Going Down During the NBA Playoffs, WTF?

(April 23, 2023) - Our own Thomas Somach reports that the Unibet website in PA went down once again overnight Friday and was back up by Saturday morning, then apparently back down again.  It is the third time the site has been down for an extended period of time this month.  The company has since acknowledged the issues concerning their website.  Unibet is looking to utilize their own proprietary platform in New Jersey next month and Pennsylvania within the next two months.  They currently use software provided by Kambi, which is the same provider for DraftKings and a few other sportsbook brands.  Read More Here

Pennsylvania Reports Record March Numbers

(April 18, 2023) - For the first time, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reports the commonwealthy's monthly revenue from gambling exceeded a half billion dollars during the month of March, which features the NCAA college basketball tournament.

Gambling brought in over $515,000 in March, an 11.35% increase compared to March last year.

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows reported a nearly 52% increase, jumping from almost $21,000 to $31,000. Hollywood Casino at Penn National, Valley Forge Casino Resort and Hollywood Casino Morgantown all had increases of over 25%.

Sportsbooks Clean Up on Penguins as Suspicions Mount

(April 12, 2023) - Our Thomas Somach reports that the Pittsburgh Penguins needed to win last night versus Chicago Blackhawks to clinch a playoff spot.  For most, that was a "no brainer".  The -520 price assigned to the Penquins was the highest line on any hockey game this year.  Can you guess what happened?

76ers Sports Betting News: -900 to Win Series vs. Nets

Unibet Down for Nearly 48 Hours, Retail Sportsbook Too

Not only were folks unable to bet with the Unibet mobile app, Gambling911 reported exclusively that gamblers could not wager at the walk-in book at The Downs at Mohegan Sun in the Lehigh Valley, which is run by Unibet.  Our Thomas Somach was sent there to investigate.  Unibet advised us that they had not been hacked. The site came back online early Monday afternoon, close to 48 hours after it initially went down.  This certainly affected MLB bets, NBA and NHL but also those looking to get down on the Masters.  Unibet's parent company, the Kindred Group, was recently handed down a sigificant fine by UK regulators but there is not indication this had any impact on the outage.  Read More Here
