Suns-Nuggets Series - 2nd Round

(April 29, 2023) - The Phoenix Suns face off against the Denver Nuggets in Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs.

Assuming both teams play up to their potential, the lines should be Denver -3.16 at home and Phoenix -2.14 a home, making for what should be a great series.

Phoenix comes into this game with a big of a advantage.  They are just 5-1 Against The Spread in the last 6 meetings versus the Suns in Denver.

The Suns eliminated the LA Clippers in five games as well.  Devon Booker scored 47 points to help his team advance.  25 of those points were scored in just the third quarter.

“It was spiritual,” Suns forward Kevin Durant said of watching Booker’s third quarter. “I don’t scream too much in games as I get older, but when he hit that 3 at the top of the key, I felt that energy and I know everyone in the crowd felt it. We feed off his aggression.”

Some other noteworthy trends:

  • Suns are 6-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 Saturday games.
  • Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game.
  • Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss.
  • Suns are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games playing on 3 or more days rest.
  • Suns are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
  • Over is 9-1 in Suns last 10 games following a ATS loss.
  • Over is 6-1-1 in Suns last 8 overall.

Suns-Clippers Game 4

(April 22, 2023) - Phoenix is a -7.5 favorite in LA for Game 4 of this series as the Suns go up 2-1.  A win Saturday and the Suns are in the driver's seat.  They have beaten LA six times in the last ten meetings.

"If a game is gonna be that physical you have to take advantage of it, and we got into the bonus early a few times," Suns coach Monty Williams said. "I think attacking the basket is the thing that allows for you to do that."

Suns starters Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Torrey Craig combined to go 23 of 24 from the line in the last game.  Booker finished with 45 points and Durant had 28.

The Suns are 5-1 Against The Spread in Saturday games but are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games.

The Clippers are 0-4 ATS in Saturday games.  They are also 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing more than 125 points in their previous game.

We have LA as the -1 point favorite Saturday but this number does not take into account that Kawhi Leonard will be sitting out for LA in Game 4 due to an injured knee.  The Paul George injury hasn't entirely been factored into the number either.

Suns-Clippers Game 3

(April 20, 2023) - Devin Booker scored 38 points on 14-of-22 shooting Tuesday to help even the series vs. the LA Clippers 1-1.

"He's an all-around player," the Suns Kevin Durant said of Booker after the game. "He can do everything at an elite level on a basketball court."

Durant scored 25 points.

Phoenix comes into Game 3 as the -3.5 favorite.  We get a number of Clippers 1.46.

The Suns are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Los Angeles.

Clippers-Suns Game 2

(April 18, 2023) - The Phoenix Suns come into Tuesday night's game as a -8 point home favorite after losing to the Clippers in Game 1, 115-110.  We now have a number of 3.41 for the Suns.

Kevin Durant recorded 27 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.  But the Clippers Kawhi Leonard proved too much with his five rebounds and five assists to accompany his 38 points. Leonard still praised Durant's efforts.

"He is an all-time player, a Hall of Famer," Leonard said of Durant. "This is what it's about -- you have an opportunity to play great. You just want the opportunity.

"Win, lose or draw, it's about giving your best out there. And you're able to play against the best. Just got to keep on having fun with it. It's good. It's playoff basketball."

Clippers-Suns Game 1

The Phoenix Suns entered the playoffs with a 45-37 record straight up and 45-38-1 Against The Spread.  The Clippers owned a 44-38 record straight up and were two 40-42 ATS.  The Clippers are covering in 40% of their most recent games while the Suns are covering the spread in 50%.

Phoenix comes into this game at -7.  We get a number of Suns 4.  These teams have split their series over the last ten but Phoenix' wins were all by more than the current spread.  Three of those victories were on the road.

The Suns have one legend in their corner.  Pacers great Reggie Miller says he would be 'very surprised' if the Phoenix Suns don't reach NBA Finals this year.

“It’s hard for me to bet against them,” Miller said. “The West is wide open other than Phoenix in my opinion.”

He points to the addition of Kevin Durant as the X Factor.

“Any team that Kevin Durant is on should be a favorite,” Miller said. “Now you pair him with Devin Booker and probably the best floor general that we’ve seen over the last 18 to 20 years in Chris Paul.”
