“Isildur1”is a magnet for rumors and speculation in the internet poker world, and the latest rumor is that Isildur1 may have recently signed with an online poker site.

The source of this story is blogger Sohello “BankTheMan” Shah, who regularly keeps tabs on Swedish online poker news. Shah says that the news is not official yet so he can’t name the site or player’s real name, but he does reveal that Isildur1 is 20 years old. An excerpt from Shah’s blog reads:

There hasn’t been any official announcements yet, so unfortunately I can’t reveal “Isildur1’s” real identity, but I can tell that he is 20 years old.

Since the news broke, it’s been rumored that the poker room in question is Full Tilt Poker because this is where Isildur1 has set a number of records. Some of the online poker records Isildur1 holds include the largest one-day internet poker loss ever at $4.2 million as well as playing for the biggest online poker pot ever at $1.35 million; Patrick Antonius won the pot in a heads-up match against Isildur1.

This Swedish player is also well known for turning a $2,000 bankroll (January 2009) into a $1.4 million bankroll (September 2009). Isildur1 began playing on Full Tilt Poker after amassing the aforementioned $1.4 million bankroll.

The true identity of Isildur1 is still a mystery, although many people have speculated on the identity. Many believe that Swedish poker star Viktor Blom is behind the mysterious online screen name. However, it’s never been proven that Blom is Isildur1, and Blom’s only known account is “Blom90” on theiPoker Network.

Since little is known about Isildur1, it’s unclear as to why this player chooses to remain anonymous. But the screen name Isildur1 is from Sweden so the heavy online poker taxes in Sweden could be a big reason why the real identity is anonymous.
