2008 North American Poker Championship- Glen Witmer or Gavin Smith?
It was down to the wire Thursday night with two players left out of 454 players competing in this year's World Poker Tour (WPT) North American Poker Championship.
So what do we know about either player? Frankly, not much, at least where the leader is concerned.
Glen Witmer comes to us from Waterloo, ON, Canada.
Poker Road had this to say about Witmer:
"Despite his impressive chip lead, most people assume the table will be taken down by one of the top pros, and that Witmer will eventually lose his lead and accept a lower money spot. Witmer would assuredly love to prove them wrong."
A win by Witmer and he'll become an instant poker millionaire: $1,090,589 is the first prize at the 2008 North American Poker Championship.
Gavin Smith, in second place at press time, is a little better known.
Also originally from Ontario, Canada, in 2006, Gavin Smith was named WPT Season 4 Player of the Year. Smith now calls Vegas his home.
He started playing poker in 1994 when he found roving charity casinos in the Toronto area. He turned pro in 1998 and found immediate success, making two final World Poker Tour tables that year.
Smith has won $3,075,907 in career tournament play.
