As the 2009 Aussie Millions was beginning to wind down, 28 players remained, among them, wunderkind Annette Obrestad, who we profiled yesterday right here at Gambling911.com.
A handful of big names managed to cash out including WSOP winner Joe Hachem; and Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius, who finished at 41st, taking home $20,000 AU.
Clonie Gowen, who has been all over the news of late for her lawsuit against Full Tilt Poker, busted in 32nd place for $30,000 AU. Scott Nguyen left with $15,000 AU after finishing in 50th place.
Along with Obrestad, there are a few big name poker players still in contention. Kelly Kim, who was among the 9 finalists at this past year's World Series of Poker, sat in the 16th spot. Sorel Mizzi, the Canadian poker pro with over $700,000 in online tournament winnings to date, came in at 20th.
The action starts again at 8:30 pm EST Friday until the final table is determined.
