2012 WSOP Schedule Released: New $1 Million Buy-in Revealed
Among the many surprises revealed with the release of the 2012 WSOP schedule, new events include a $1 million buy-in, re-entry, mix-max and four-handed formats. Also, as Gambling911.com reported earlier on Wednesday, there will no longer be a November Nine event.
This year’s World Series of Poker schedule features a total of 61 events.
"This year's WSOP schedule is very exciting," said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. "We're introducing some fantastic new events, while bringing back many successful stalwarts that our players love. We will expand our footprint this year to include extra tables dedicated to cash games, as well as plenty of satellite and single-day tournament space, so players will have an easy time finding a desirable game without ever having to leave the Rio Convention Center."
The main event begins on Saturday, July 7 and will offer three starting days. Nine finalists will be determined on July 16.
But here is the real kicker. While the November Nine has been scrapped, the 2012 WSOP winner will not be crowned until October.
The nine final players will return to Vegas on October 28 to play until only two remain. The champion will be crowned on October 30 in the Penn & Teller Theater.
