Day 1a of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event saw 1066 entries.  This was followed by 2114 for Day 1b, bringing the total thus far to 3180.  Day 1c – the final day in which to enter – typically sees the largest pool of players with organizers anticipating double the current number of entries.

Amazingly the incredible Vanessa Selbst sat among the top 3 chip leaders after Day 1b.  The equally amazing Daniel Negreanu was the 11st biggest chip leader.

Gone after Day 1b are Tom Dwan, David Singer, Tyler Bonkowski, Martin Kabrhel, Chris DeMaci, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Chip Jett, Victor Ramdin, Joe Sebok, Todd Brunson, Amanda Musumeci, Bertrand Grospellier, 2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer, and current UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.  2005 WSOP Main Event champ, Joe Hachem, was eliminated after Day 1a.

Musumeci still has a shot at a WSOP bracelet this year being among the finalists at the WSOP National Championship. The remaining eight players will return at 1 PM PST on Wednesday, July 11 to play for the bracelet and $416,051 first-place prize.

This year’s World Series of Poker winner will be determined in November.  Over $8 million is expected to be rewarded to the champion.
