Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson won’t be playing in this year’s Super Bowl.  His team didn’t even make the Playoffs.  Instead, he’ll be hosting a celebrity poker tournament that weekend.

In addition to Peterson, a plethora of NFL players are set to attend. Among them are Larry Fitzgerald, Bernard Berrian, Julius Peppers, Tashard Choice, Antione Winfield, Charles Godfrey, Justin Forsett and Roy Williams.

From Aintluck.com:

The event, the Adrian Peterson’s All-In Celebrity Poker Tournament will be held to benefit Peterson’s own charity, the All Day Foundation. The tournament will kick off at 5PM in Dallas’ Southside Music Hall at Gilley’s with a relatively modest $500 buy in fee. Peterson and his foundation have lined up some heavy hitters from both within the poker/football worlds and outside as well. Hosting the event will be one of the main headliner’s, 11-time World Series of Poker Bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth. Its an added bonus for the attention craving Hellmuth who has been linked to the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. It is quite possible that Hellmuth will be the only professional poker pro actually scheduled to attend.

The event will also feature an auction and one of the prizes up for grabs is a World Series of Poker Main Event seat.
