American poker pro Antonio Esfandiari has won the Big One For One Drop at the World Series of Poker 2012. Esfandiari and Sam Trickett were vying for the biggest prize in poker tournament history, more than $18 million

Phil Hellmuth was deprived of his 13th WSOP bracelet with a 4th place finish.  No reason to cry for Phil though as he walks away from this one with a cool $2,645,333.

Hedge fund manager David Einhorn, who vowed to give all of his winnings to charity, was knocked out in 3rd with a very impressive $4,352,000 win.

Esfandiari, a US player who relocated from Iran at the age of nine, and Trickett, a one-time soccer player from Great Britain, were guaranteed to earn at least the 3rd biggest money prize in poker tournament history.  Jamie Gold’s 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event win until now has been the biggest and will become the 2nd largest haul in poker history.  Second place takes home $10,112,001 at the One Drop.

The Big One For One Drop tournament required a $1 million buy-in and drew 48 players from the professional poker player and business community.

Congrats to Antonio Esfandiari.
