The California Senate Governmental Organization Committee has a hearing set for June 29 at 3:30 local time on proposed intrastate online poke legislation.  The proposed legislation looks to make California the first state that legalizes Internet card rooms.

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians, which operates Morongo Casino Resort Spa near Cabazon, is a proponent of intrastate online poker in the state but on Monday noted its opposition to the measure in its present form.

Because more than 20 pending measures are expected to be heard that day, the online legislation has been given a special order of business status. That guarantees a hearing start time for 3:30 p.m.
