Daniel Negreanu Vows No Drinking, No Sex Before a Tournament: Bad Beat Nears a Million
It’s been a while since we here at Gambling911.com have covered one of our personal favorites in the poker world, Daniel Negreanu. For a while he was among the most trafficked figures here at G911. Alas, Negreanu has revealed a few goals for 2012 that include, of course, winning at least one more bracelet.
From Eat My Stack:
Negreanu has also stated his desire to regain top spot on all four of the all-time money lists as categorized on the Hendon Mob website, which means he will need to earn about $2.2 million more than Erik Seidel. He also wants to take back the number one spot on the WPT money list, now held by Carlos Mortensen; he will need to earn nearly a million more than Mortensen achieves to do so, although he does have the advantage that his closest rival other than Mortensen is more than a million dollars behind.
And as if Negreanu needs to emulate anyone else, there is someone he is especially fond of, that being Jason Mercier.
“He is simply the standard today in terms of consistently, routinely cashing for over a million dollars year after year,” Negreanu said of Mercier. “He is a grinder, he is young, and he cares. There is no one in poker today that reminds me more of myself when I was 25 than Jason. He is a winner at poker and life. His consistent success has motivated me to get back on top of the game I love.”
Negreanu also will no longer be drinking, socializing or engaging in sexual activities prior to a major poker tournament. Let’s see how long that New Year’s resolution lasts.
