HighStakesDB.com released a report that Danish poker pro Gus Hansen has lost $17.8 million just playing at Full Tilt Poker, making him one of the biggest all-time losers on that site.

While Hansen first started playing at Full Tilt Poker approximately ten years ago, most of his losses have occurred over the past year-and-a-half.

He is down nearly $3 million this year alone.  Last year he dropped nearly $8 million.

Prior to 2012, Hansen had taken a brief hiatus from high stakes online poker games.

Other poker pros have come to Hansen’s defense, claiming he is not a bad player.  Easy for them to say when it’s not their money he’s losing.

“I don’t think he is a favorite against anyone he is playing against,” Dan Cates told Card Player in a recent interview. “I think he’s a dog in almost every game he is playing in. Not everyone, but pretty close. That’s not to say that I think he is a bad player, but he is not picking his spots very well.” Cates went on to call Hansen a “smart guy” and that he could turn it around.
