Denys Shafikov Leads for EPT12 Barcelona Main Event Final Day
There's already been a Ukrainian chip leader during the EPT12 Barcelona Main Event when Oleksii Khoroshenin took the lead after Day 3.
Despite him falling today, the yellow-and-blue flag is waving on top again. Khoroshenin's fellow countryman Denys Shafikov will enter the Final Day with the biggest stack after bagging 17,515,000 chips tonight. The 36-year-old is mainly a cash game player and prior to the Main Event, his live tournament winnings amounted to only $23,826. Making the final table of the biggest ever EPT, he is already guaranteed at least €104,800.
Frederik Jensen from Denmark is the only player who's in a position to snag a second EPT title, after winning EPT Madrid in Season 8. However, John Juanda is clearly the biggest star on the final table, being #10 in the all-time money list with more than $16m in live tournament winnings. Back in Season 7, the Indonesian came close to winning but lost to David Vamplew heads-up in London. This isn't his first final in Barcelona either, he's been this far before, finishing eighth in Season 9 for €76,100.
