The introduction of a bill to legalize Internet poker and online casinos in the USA will not take place before the end of May but instead is anticipated within the next two to three weeks (June 2013).

“The Internet casino and poker bill will not be ready for introduction before congress adjourns for Memorial Day recess,” John Pappas of the Poker Players Alliance announced this week.

“There are some drafting issues that won't be resolved this week. This means they are trying to get the bill right, not fast, which is a good thing. There is a real effort to get stakeholder support for this product and it just won't happen before tomorrow. Of course there are no guarantees that all stakeholders will be satisfied with the end product. Look for introduction in early June now.

“Also, met with Mr. (Joe) Barton's staff again this week and they hope to have their bill later this summer.”

Barton, a Congressman from Texas, co-sponsored previous Web poker bills that failed to pass in the House.
