For the first time in nine years, opposition to proposed i-Poker bills has all but diminished, making way for the likelihood of this year’s legislation passing. Language in the current bill provides millions annually to the powerful horse racing industry though they will not be permitted to offer online poker.

A California Assembly committee held a hearing on AB 2863 on April 27, and the legislation was approved 18-0.

Feinstein’s opposition to AB 2863 should not be much of a surprise as the 82-year-old Senator had previously offered her support for federal anti-online poker legislation backed mostly by Republicans and promoted by GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson.
