The First Seven Millionaires of Poker in 2014 Are…

Here we are not even through with February and there are already seven millionaires in the world of poker for 2014.   Some of these players were already millionaires (or multi-millionaires) but managed to tack on another nine figures since the start of the new year.

Daniel Shak just managed to squeak by the million dollar mark with a

$1,266,464 pay day finishing second in the $100,000 Super High Roller event at the PCA for $1.1 million and sixth in this year's Aussie Millions Challenge for a cool $87,000.

Shak is still a working slob like the rest of us, albeit making more millions on Wall Street.

The incredible Vanessa Selbst, easily the best female poker player on the circuit today with just shy of $10 million in overall career earnings, managed to win $1.4 million playing the $25,500 High Roller and $100,000 Super High Roller.  She won neither of those events but rather finished 3rd in both.

Ukrainian player Yevgeniy Timoshenko is making quite a name for himself on the poker circuit these days even if some of us have a tough time pronouncing his name.

The young Ukrainian makes the list after defeating Mike McDonald in the heads-up phase of the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge for $1,791,248.  This was his biggest win to date.

Polish poker player Dominik Panka has won $1,794,594 in 2014.  A relatively unknown name prior to this year, he defeated Mike McDonald in heads-up action to take the $1.4m first prize at the $10,300 PCA Main Event then went on to win the EPT Deauville for the remainder of his nearly $2 million.

German high roller Fabian Quoss managed to amass $2.4 million and some change over the course of just a few weeks, cashing out at a handful of tournaments including 5th place at the Aussie Millions $250k Super High Roller for over $700k and 1st place at the $100,000 PCA Super High Roller for $1,629,940.  Talk about a poker player on a roll!

Phil Ivey was another player nobody heard of prior to 2014.  Okay, that’s a joke!  Ivey is the biggest money earner in the game after Antonio Esfandiari.  Ivey is starting off the year in style, winning just over $3.5 million at this year’s Aussie Millions $250k Super High Roller Challenge.

The biggest money earner of 2014 thus far, however, is one Mike McDonald.  He has earned $4,327,428 since January 1.  McDonald has managed three six-figure cashes this year alone, his biggest being a second place finish to Phil Ivey in the $250k Super High Roller for $1.7 million.
