ISPT the Biggest Tournament Ever: Michael Mizrachi Rep for Bernard Tapie New Venture (Video)
The International Stadium Poker Tour is a poker tournament that is slated to take place every year in a world-famous stadium with the 2013 event slated to take place a Wembley.
It claims to be the biggest poker tournament in the world consisting of 30,000 players, a prizepool of 20 m€ and is broadcasted on the Television in more than 28 countries.
The name behind the venture is one many online poker players – especially those screwed out of their funds by Full Tilt Poker – might be familiar with. That would be Bernard Tapie and his son, Laurent.
The Tapies had attempted to acquire now defunct Full Tilt Poker amidst US indictments filed against the one time second largest poker site. Those attempts failed and the Tapies pulled out of the deal after it was learned PokerStars would likely be buying FTP.
The International Stadium Poker Tour has also enlisted the help of pro player Michael Mizrachi, who is also the official poker ambassador to the Breeders Cup.
Mizrachi made the announcement Tuesday night via Twitter:
Michael Mizrachi @TheGrinder44
I just want to announce I will be @ispt_poker official ambassador Will be one of the Biggest tournaments ever held May 31, 2013!
For some in the poker community the verdict is not yet out as to whether Tapie was a prospective knight in white armor or a wolf in sheep’s clothing when it came to the whole Full Tilt Poker affair.
Players were left clinging to hope of “big announcement coming next week” and “deal almost done” headlines that never materialized over a six month period.
