Jonathan Duhamel Ex-Girlfriend Wants More Prison Time: Lead Home Invasion

The former girlfriend of 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel wants to remain in prison, the Winnipeg Sun reported late last week.

Bianca Rojas-Latraverse was sentenced to 3.5 years last June.  Judge Anne-Marie Jacques issued a much harsher sentence due to Rojas-Latraverse’s "behaviour behind bars and her total lack of introspection."

Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, 21 at the time, orchestrated a brazen armed breakin of Duhamel’s suburban Montreal home in 2011 just days before Christmas.  The poker pro was tied up, terrorized and beaten as Rojas-Latraverse and her two companions robbed him of his precious WSOP bracelet and other valuables.  The bracelet and cash was later recovered.

Bianca Rojas-Latraverse told the board this month that she wants to serve her entire three-and-a-half-year sentence behind bars and, as if that were not bizarre enough, the parole board has denied her this request.

Parole Board Commissioner Anne-Marie Asselin replied that the young woman had to be released automatically after two-thirds of her sentence.

"The Corrections and Conditional Release Act stipulates that you will be released under supervision on the prescribed date and remain (free) until your sentence expires," Asselin wrote.

Rojas-Latraverse said she hoped by serving her full sentence it would "reduce the pain" of Duhamel.
