Joran van der Sloot, the Dutchman accused of killing a young Peruvian college student, Stephany Flores, stopped short of pleading guilty on Friday after expressing apprehension over some of the charges.

Van der Sloot met Flores in a Lima casino while he was attending the Latin American Poker Tour.  Flores was found dead in his hostel room some time after van der Sloot is seen on camera leaving the room and escaping to neighboring Chile.

The online poker community later identified a handful of player handles connected to van der Sloot including AngryShark68 and an eerie reference to a blonde female many suggest is a reference to Natalee Holloway.  Van der Sloot is the prime suspect in Holloway’s mysterious disappearance on the island of Aruba nearly seven years ago.

Organizers for the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) confirmed that the Dutchman had not been participating in the event but was just a spectator who had attended the previously leg in Colombia.

During Friday’s court appearance, Van der Sloot can be seen fidgeting and yawning.
