Latin Series of Poker Rebrands as Latin Poker Series Following WSOP Dispute
San Jose, Costa Rica – As most of the poker world focuses their attention on Las Vegas for the world's richest poker tournament, the guys behind the World Series of Poker have turned their attention to south of the United States. In response to a claim by the WSOP that LSOP is infringing on its copyright with its use of 'Series of Poker', LSOP management have opted to rebrand as the Latin Poker Series (LPS).
New name and brand image changes, but everything else remains the same. All events on the schedule will remain intact and the name change will not impact any of the now-Latin Poker Series tournaments.
"We are honored that the most respected poker tournament circuit has laid eyes on us," stated President of LPS, Diego Chan. "Being under the microscope means that our tournament series is really making a name for itself on the world stage, and it confirms that we are doing things right in taking our events to the poker world."
While the brand will change, the player-centric focus that has made the Latin tournaments such a success will remain the same. Chan also notes that the guarantees, tournament format, on-site incentives, and everything else players have come to expect will remain untouched.
To complement the new brand, LPS will soon be launching a revamped website featuring a new design, key tournament information, and a yet-to-be-revealed leaderboard competition designed to reward players for ongoing success in LPS events.
The news of the rebrand comes as LPS gears up for its Day 1 events of the LPS Millions, a $1 million guaranteed tournament. LPS is spreading Day 1 tables in various cities around the world leading up to the Panama event, which is scheduled to kick off this September.
