Marvin Rettenmaier Named European Poker Player of the Year 2012
Germany’s Marvin Rettenmaier has been named 2012 European Poker Player of the Year by both Card Player Magazine and BLUFF.
His many accomplishments throughout the year included:
*Winning 1st place at the €2k EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo and netting €118,300 ($156,186).
*1st place at the $25k WPT World Championship Las Vegas for $1,196,858.
*1st place at the $4k WPT Merit Cyprus Classic for $287,784
*1st place finish at the €10k EPT Prague where he won $477,479.
“Marvin’s been one of poker’s best kept secrets the past few years but I think the cat is out of the bag now," Lance Bradley of Bluff Magazine. "The guy can play. He’s gone from being in the mix in smaller buy-in live tournaments to winning the World Poker Tour championship and being a threat for BLUFF Player of the Year every year. It should serve as a shining example to those that dream of turning pro that getting to that point is a grind . It’s not easy, but hard work and dedication to your craft can pay off handsomely.”
Dan Smith and Greg Merson were among the poker pros who challenged Rettenmaier for the “Poker Player of the Year” title.
