Michael Phelps an Online Poker Player
He broke the record for most gold medals won during a single Olympics, but how good is medalist swimmer Michael Phelps when it comes to online poker?
Michael Phelps will sit on the computer playing online poker for hours according to Access Hollywood.
In the past Michael Phelps has participated in poker charities including one held to raise money for the Nebraska Make-a-Wish program.
NBC said 66 million people tuned in to at least six minutes of its prime-time telecast Friday, when Phelps somehow won the 100-meter butterfly by one-hundredth of a second for his seventh gold medal. That dwarfs virtually any non-Super Bowl sporting event, and it proves one thing:
Michael Phelps single-handedly saved the Olympics. These Beijing Olympics, and perhaps those to come. The entire enterprise has new life.
On Saturday, Phelps won his eighth gold medal, eclipsing Mark Spitz's seven-gold performance at the 1972 Munich Games.
"Everything was accomplished," he said. "I will have the medals forever."
"Nothing is impossible," Phelps said. "With so many people saying it couldn't be done, all it takes is an imagination, and that's something I learned and something that helped me."
President Bush called Phelps on Sunday morning from his ranch in Crawford, Texas, telling him, "If you can handle eight gold medals, you can handle anything."
A White House spokesman says Bush told Phelps that he and first lady Laura Bush were proud of the swimmer's achievements and that he handled himself with "humility."
And the president told Phelps to give his mom a big hug for him.
