Michael Tureniec Wins EPT Copenhagen for 3,700,000 DKK
More than two years after coming second at EPT London, Swedish pro Michael Tureniec has finally claimed an EPT title, taking down the Season 7 EPT Copenhagen main event. The 25-year-old, from Stockholm, beat fellow Swede Per Linde to snag the DKK 3,700,000 first prize (approximately €496,271). His victory also earned him a stunning bracelet from EPT Copenhagen Official Bracelet Sponsor Shamballa Jewels, and a seat into the Season 7 EPT Grand Final in Madrid in May.
Tureniec, 25, has now amassed more than $2.5 million in live tournament winnings. In addition to his runner-up finish at EPT5 London, for £525,314, he chopped the EPT Barcelona €2,000 side event last November with fellow Copenhagen finalist John Eames, earning €140,000.
He said: “I’m feeling very happy. It’s been a good day. I’m glad I managed to win against such tough opponents. I’m very proud. It’s such a tough field here with a lot of Scandinavian players. My plan now is to first get a driver’s license, then get a nice car.”
