Online Poker Surges With Nearly 10 Percent Increase in Traffic This Week
The poker sector received more great news this week after it was revealed Tuesday morning that traffic for all the world’s networks had jumped an amazing 9.8 percent.
PokerScout.com did note that the increase is typical following what is widely considered the slowest poker playing time of the year, the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. That said, online poker sites witnessed minimal declines over that period.
The only loser of the week was PokerStars.fr, which is currently dealing with a player protest. As a result, Winamax.fr overtook the PokerStars.fr website in France for the first time ever.
PartyPoker’s traffic exploded by 29 percent, allowing the network to jump into the number 2 spot ahead of rival iPoker. Party is offering a VIP rake race promotion throughout this month.
PokerScout.com also noted that Italian poker sites rose substantially for the second week in a row. The largest Italian sites have seen an increase of nearly 30% in two weeks. As a result, Italy's licensed poker rooms now account for more than 10 percent of the worldwide market.
