Growth in the online poker sector continues with traffic rising another 1.2% this past week.  Five of the top 10 sites saw week-over-week increases according to the online poker traffic monitoring website PokerScout.com

PokerStars, the world’s leading online card room in terms of overall customers, benefitted the most it seems thanks to the celebration of its 50 billionth hand.  The cash game player count reached an all-time high of 105,230 last Wednesday morning, beating the previous high of 103,010 players set in February during the 40 billionth hand promotion.  PokerStars averaged 28,400 real cash players overall this past week, 12,000 more than its nearest competitor Full Tilt Poker.

The newly opened French market continues to grow. With the offering of cash games as well as tournaments, France has garnered approximately 8% of the global online poker market, surpassing Italy's 7% share, PokerSiteScout.com reported.

The top four ranked sites kept their positions this week. This makes 13 consecutive weeks without a change in the top four spots.  PartyPoker and iPoker are in a dead heat for the number 3 position.
