Top Trending: WSOP Bracelet Record Winner Phil Hellmuth: 'No One Believes in My Cash Game Prowess'
Phil Hellmuth has won 17 World Series of Poker bracelets, the most of any other player out there. Scroll down for all the latest gambling headlines from around the globe and the top trending gambling articles at Gambling911.com.
He's a great poker player, nobody can argue with that.
Or can they?
When it comes to cash games, Hellmuth argues he gets no respect.
The self-proclaimed "Poker Brat" went on an epic rant Thursday.
From Hellmuth:
No respect (they have no clue)
I won a fortune in cash games since 2012 (many millions of dollars), much of it televised, and somehow, no one believes in my cash game prowess (in this poll)
Reminds me of my tourney play. As I climbed the ladder of @WSOP
wins since 2010, many top pros didn’t think I was very good (I kept winning, most of my doubters went broke)
Since 2020, I mostly only play @wsop
tourneys, have made a ton of final tables, and folks don’t seem to believe in me!
Finally, I went 9-2 playing heads up vs the world’s best poker players, and somehow my opponents said, on the record, they were favorites over me before EVERY single match. Meanwhile, I knocked them off one-by-one
Poker is the only sport I know of, that you can crush the game, and folks think you are not a good player. How? You crush on tape, people then watch your hole cards, people then don’t understand what you’re doing, and then some idiot commentator (or smart commentator) evaluates your play based on their understanding of the game
No one understands what I do, or how I do it. This hurts from a “respect” point of view (my Ego hurts right now!), but is great for me. Thank goodness they don’t understand!!
I’ll win $10M more playing poker cash games ($25M total), I’ll win 7 more WSOP bracelets (24 total), and they will still not respect me. Ok, fine
At the end of the day, I’ll take my 24 WSOP bracelets and the $25M I won in cash games and call it a day
When I leave poker, I guess some will say, “Yes, we know he won everything in sight, but I don’t understand how. Therefore, I believe that he was lucky.” Yep, I was “Lucky” for 60 straight years!!

Curious if Democrats are willing to pick a woman after Hillary & Kamala losses."

(Crime and Crypto) - $5 million in crypto stolen through SIM swapping and casino laundering targeted by DOJ - The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken bold action against cybercriminals who allegedly stole more than $5 million in bitcoin through a sophisticated scheme involving SIM swapping and online casinos. Authorities say the thefts targeted multiple victims, and the stolen funds are now subject to a civil forfeiture complaint as the government works to recover the cryptocurrency. The clever thieves were able to accomplish this feat through what is known as SIM swapping. Hackers trick mobile providers into transferring a victim’s phone number to a new SIM card. Once the hackers control the number, they can reset passwords and access online accounts tied to the phone, including cryptocurrency wallets.

(Sweepstakes Casinos) - Will California Governor Gavin Newsom Give Chumba Casino a Lifeline? - California’s legislature passed AB 831 unanimously last week, sending a ban of sweepstakes casinos and sportsbooks to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk. He has until Oct. 12 to sign, veto, or let it become law through inaction. If enacted, California would join Montana, Connecticut, New Jersey, and others in banning the dual-currency model that powers platforms like Chumba Casino and LuckyLand Slots. The would-be California ban represents the biggest single hit to the sweepstakes market yet, accounting for 17.3% of the US sweepstakes casino market.
- Matt Kaufman, managing director of digital and interactive gaming at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, expects Newsom to sign the bill, given the unanimous support from both chambers. And he thinks operators won’t wait for the Jan. 1, 2026, effective date to start their California exit.
- Kaufman says: "“The removal of a state like that doesn’t inherently mean it’s a 17.3% drop. Some of the marketing spend that would have gone to California will be reallocated to other states, where operators can continue to grow. So, there will be a material drop for sizable operators who are live in all states and have already spent materially everywhere, but it won’t be the full 17.3 percent.”
- Paul Leyland of gaming consultancy Regulus Partners takes a much bleaker view. He sees California as a potential tipping point that could accelerate the industry’s decline.
- “We got to the point just before the California decision when, in the space of a few months, around 29 percent of the U.S. population had either a sweeps ban or cease-and-desist orders heavily disrupting sweeps,” said Leyland. “Then the biggest state of all took it up to about 42 percent.”

(NFL) Seahawks Listt Zach Charbonnet, Julian Love, Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori as Doubtful and Line Doesn't Move a Bit
- Running back Zach Charbonnet is listed as doubtful to play with a foot injury. George Holani will likely take on a bigger offensive role because of his injury.
- The team will be even thinner on the other side of the ball as safeties Nick Emmanwori (ankle) and Julian Love (hamstring) join Charbonnet and cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) in the doubtful category.
- Coby Bryant and Ty Okada are the only other safeties on the active roster, so D’Anthony Bell and Jerrick Reed are both candidates to come up from the practice squad.
- Despite these injuries, oddsmakers haven't budged off the -7.5, favoring Seattle at home against the New Orleans Saints.
- Gambling911.com comes up with a line of -7.5/-8 without these injuries factored in.

(Sports) - Key Witness in 2006 Murder Case of Miami Football Player Bryan Pata, Thought Dead, Found Alive - A potential key witness in the murder case of former Miami football player Bryan Pata, Paul Conne, was found alive at his residence in Louisville, Kentucky, after he was presumed dead by Florida prosecutors, ESPN reported on Thursday. The long-delayed murder trial of Rashaun Jones is scheduled for October 6.
- Prosecutors told Florida 11th Circuit Court Judge Cristina Miranda as recently as July that Conner was dead.
- Conner told ESPN that he wasn't aware anyone from Miami was looking for him and said he rarely leaves his apartment.
- "I'm not shocked, but appalled," Jones attorney Sara Alvarez said by telephone Thursday. "This is a bigger issue. This is just blatant lies. Bald-faced lies.
- "It's a shame and it's disgusting that you would be willing to send a man to prison for the rest of his life without any evidence and then not be honest about what evidence exists and doesn't exist."
- It's unclear how the revelation about Conner will affect the trial, currently set to start Oct. 6.
