Phil Ivey was named “Best Poker Player” for the month of January 2011 by ESPN.com followed by Jason Mercier, Tom Marchese and Tom Dwan.

Bluff Magazine managing editor Jessica Welman noted that, while Ivey had no cashes at PCA or Aussie Millions, “He's still the best there is”.

Mercier, on the other hand, finished Eighth place in the $25,000 High Roller at PCA for $129,480 during the month of January.

Tom Marchese managed an eleventh place finish in the $25,000 High Roller at PCA for $92,490.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, the online poker phenom, came in 4th place among poker players but ESPN.com noted that Dwan did not exactly have the best month in January.

Eric Seidel cracked the top 10 by having four cashes in January. Four final tables in January. One big win.

The remaining rankings were as follows:

Vanessa Selbst (5)

Sorel Mizzi (6) – Moved up thanks to his Aussie Millions 2011 final table appearance.

John Juanda (7)

Daniel Negreanu (8)

Eric Baldwin (9)
