Philipp Gruissem Wins EPT Grand Final €25K High Roller
EPT London High Roller champion Philipp Gruissem has won the €25k High Roller for €993,963 at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final after beating PCA Super High Roller champion Scott Seiver. After the elimination of Belgian #1 Davidi Kitai in third place, Gruissem, 27, and Seiver, 29, cut a heads-up deal and then went all-in blind in the final hand. Today’s victory puts Gruissem at the top of the German all time money list, ahead of 2011 world champion Pius Heinz.
There were a record 214 entries in the event (159 playes + 55 re-entries) making it the biggest high roller in Europe and creating a €5,243,000 prize pool. As well as his cash prize, Gruissem also received a stunning watch from luxury Swiss brand SLYDE, the Official Watch Sponsor for EPT Season 10 Main Events and High Rollers.
American Byron Kaverman, who raced to Monaco just in time to enter the Main Event after his runner-up finish at WPT Borgata, was fifth for €337,650. The final nine players also included EPT Prague champion Martin Finger, Chinese player Chenxiang Miao (runner-up in the €2k Open Face Chinese tourney), EPT7 London runner-up John Juanda and UK pro Stephen Chidwick, who has cashed in the last four EPT Main Events in Europe: here in Monaco, Sanremo (13th), Vienna and fourth at EPT Prague in December.
Ole Schemion, 25th in the event and a runaway winner of the EPT 10 Player of the Year title, achieved the "EPT Triple Crown" for the third time this season, making the money in all three of the big buy-in events in Monaco including seventh in the €100,000 Super High Roller for €265,000. He also did the same at EPT Barcelona and at the PCA, as well as winning the EPT Sanremo High Roller only two weeks ago.
