Poker Book ‘Alligator Blood’ to be Made Into Movie: ‘Rat’ Tzvetkoff to the Big Screen

The James Leighton book “Alligator Blood” will be heading to the big screen, it was revealed Monday.

“Alligator Blood” centers around an online poker payment processing kingpin and playboy, Australian Daniel Tzvetkoff, who cooperated with US feds to bring down some of the world’s biggest Internet card rooms including Absolute Poker and Full Tilt Poker (in its first incarnation).  The April 15, 2011 indictments were commonly referred to as “Black Friday”, named for the day of the week they occurred.  Millions of dollars were still owed to thousands of online poker players three years later.

The US Government was currently working on paying back those players owed funds from Full Tilt Poker, however, to date, nobody has recovered from the Absolute Poker closure.

“I can confirm that Robert Luketic (director of Legally Blonde, 21 and others) has made an offer for the movie rights and the offer has been accepted,” Leighton told PokerNews. “The current situation is that my agent in Los Angeles has received the contract and is in the process of fine-tuning it before it is signed. However, the script has already been written and Rob is hoping to start the process of casting etc. when he has finished working on The Expendabelles, which he is shooting this summer.”

No word yet on who will play Tzvetkoff.  The former payment processor is widely believed to be in a US witness protection program.
