Poker Maximus II – Day 2 Recap

The action was at a break neck pace during Day 2 of the Poker Maximus II series as three more events claimed champions. Here’s how they finished.  Remember to take part in Poker Maximus II at Carbon Poker here to take advantage of this massive prize pool

Event #4: $15,000 Guaranteed Unlimited Rebuys with Add-on – ($10+1 buy-in)

This was a shorthanded tournament that fielded 890 entrants and had plenty of action with the total prize pool doubling the guaranteed amount at $30,160. 96 players managed to take home some sort of cash by the end of it and by the time there were two players left, the blinds had reached 50,000 and 100,000 in chips. Here’s how the final hand played out:

UltimateWarrior5 flat called the blind with a 7s2s and was ready to try and end things here. Any sort of decent spade flop and it could be over and CNK2005 was happy enough to see a flop by checking. After the flop came Ks,6s,Ah, both players likely knew there would be fireworks given CNK2005 was holding 8c,Kd. A min-bet and call followed to the turn where the 9s fell and UltimateWarrior5 had it locked up. After he made a bet, CNK2005 shoved believing his pair of Kings was good, only to be called and find out the bad news. An 8s on the river changed nothing as UltimateWarrior5 took the title and was $5495.16 richer. Here are the rest of the payouts for the final table:

1 UltimateWarrior5 $5495.16; 2 CNK2005 $4113.83; 3 Plesiosaur $2955.69; 4 RockstarRossi $2050.89; 5 NewAcctRunGood $1477.85; 6 Bluffalotapot $874.65; 7 AATOPSHOTAA $603.21; 8 whiterice420 $603.21; 9 berininio $603.21

Event #5: $20,000 Guaranteed with 1 rebuy and 1 add-on – ($30+1 buy-in)

This deepstack tournament allowed players a second chance if they made a mistake early and after 583 players entered and either rebought, added on or neither the total prize pool sat at $27,080. PesoCannon was lucky enough to outlast all the other entrants and claim the top prize of $4,609.02.  Here’s how he did it:

PesoCannon made a min-raise preflop to $100K in chips as he sat there holding a K-J offsuit. FresnoDull felt it was time to make a stand and shoved with his J-7 offsuit hoping for the best. When the board missed them all (2c,Qs,Qh,8d,8s), PesoCannon’s King-high was good enough to take it down and see him on through to the winner’s circle. Congrats to all that made the final table.

1 PesoCannon $4609.02; 2 FresnoDull $3520.41; 3 mcallawa $2708.01; 4 BaaadJudgement $1906.44; 5 jokaljoker $1489.41; 6 jenny2779 $1218.61; 7 DonKingOutRageous $974.89; 8 boobabe125 $731.17; 9 DeeVuS $460.37

Event #6: $30,000 Guranateed NLH Freezeout – ($100+9 buy-in)

The final event of the day was the same format as the last event of Day 1 and it attracted 514 entrants to boost the pool to a little over $51,000. Carbon player blitz2012 managed to outwit and outlast everyone else in the field and took home just under $11,000 for his efforts. Here’s how:

Blitz2012 knew that in heads up play any ace is very strong and threw out a min-raise with his Ac,8h. His opponent, SOASamcro wasn’t about to be pushed around so easily with his Kd,Qs and figured he had the best hand. SOASamcro decided that shoving all-in as the short stack was the best option and did so. A flop of 5h,9h,7h didn’t help SOASamcro’s cause after blitz2012 made the call as he was the only one with a heart in his hand and had a draw to a straight flush. The turn card was the 2h and it sealed the deal, crowing blitz 2012 the champion.

Final table results:

1 blitz2012 $10948.20; 2 SOASamcro $7453.00; 3 PhoKingVarianc3 $5011.50; 4 BigSh0tBob $3598.00; 5 TennisGolfandPoker $3084.00; 6 kenji08 $2570.00; 7 CheckraiseBluff $2056.00; 8 JohnFR2 $1542.00; 9 LifeGrind $1028.00
