Poker Maximus II – Final Day Recap

The final Sunday of the Poker Maximus II series brought plenty of action as the series wrapped up its 11-day event with two co-main events as well as two smaller tournaments available to players. After 35 great events we would like to congratulate all the players that took part in Poker Maximus II and look forward to seeing you for Poker Maximus III. Here’s how the final day’s action concluded:  Play Online Poker for Free or Real Money at Carbon Poker Here

Event #32: $30,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezeout – ($10+1 buy-in)

The final $10 buy-in event of the series brought in the biggest field we have seen as 2362 players entered this tournament, all vying for a shot at finishing in the top 270 places and getting paid. With that many players it should come as no surprise that it took over 9 hours to complete. In the end it was VegasGrinder2003 who outlasted them all in this marathon and took down the 1st place prize of $4968.90. Here’s how it ended:

Both players decided to see the flop with just the blinds in the middle and it came down Th,Ac,5c.  StunTKAwQ check-called a min bet from his opponent with his top pair aces (Ad,4c) as both saw the 6h fall on the turn. VegasGrinder2003 bet out again with his pair of aces (Ah,8c) and was then shoved on by StunTKAqQ. With top pair he had to call and when the fourth ace hit on the river, it was VegasGinder2003’s 8 kicker that clinched it for him.

Final Table Payouts and Prize Winners:

1 VegasGrinder2003 $4968.90; 2 StunTKAwQ $3690.00; 3 CantFadeMe311 $2580.00; 4 MinCashFTW $1890.00; 5 mcpyr0saur $1380.00; 6 emanoNAnon $1080.00; 7 jrice12 $720.00; 8 PACIFIC1203 $510.00; 9 pruz999 $360.00

Event #33: $40,000 Guaranteed with 1 rebuy and 1 add-on – ($30+3 buy-in)

This $40K guaranteed pot sure got a huge boost after the rebuy and add-on period was over with the 748 entrants. By the time it was down to the elimination stage of this event, the prize pool had grown to over $55,900. This one didn’t go quite as long as Event #32 but in just under 9 hours a winner was crowned. It came down to players’ Twall1 and FresnoDull with the latter ultimately prevailing to take up $9236.71.

There was no screwing around with this final hand as Twall1 shoved all-in pre-flop with his Kc,Th and about 13 big blinds left. FresnoDull had the chip lead and Kh,Qd and had no quarrels with calling so he put his chips in the middle and let the cards fell as they may. A board of 3s,8s,6c,7c,2c, gave Twall1 no help and king-high with the queen kicker was the winning hand.

1 FresnoDull $9236.71; 2 Twall1 $7109.47; 3 SavageOnes $5150.17; 4 NeillyAA $3862.63; 5 Clasky34 $2966.95; 6 luvamaxin $2407.15; 7 444ever $1959.31; 8 bullet9007 $1511.47; 9 jishii222 $951.67  Play Online Poker for Free or Real Money at Carbon Poker Here

Event #34: Main Event Low - $150,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezeout – ($55+5 buy-in)

This was the first of the two main events in Poker Maximus II as it had the smaller buy-in for players but still had a substantial prize pool in $150K guaranteed. 1816 entrants took a shot at their share of the pot and even with all those entrants; there was still $50K of overlay up for grabs. Not a bad little payday at all. Making the final table was obviously everyone’s goal and for the lucky nine who did a guaranteed payday of $2100 was their reward. When the dust had settled though, only jessica4u and beny76xx had a shot at the $24,147 first place prize and it was beny76xx who was lucky enough to take it down. The final hand played out like this:

Like Event #33, the final hand in this tournament saw all the chips go in the middle pre-flop as jessica4u and her short stack made a stand holding pocket 5’s. It was quite the raise given where the blinds were at (65K/130K) as she raised to over 2.5 million in chips. Beny76xx wasn’t thrown off by it though and after much thought, called with his pocket 6’s. Knowing she was in bad shape and needed some help jessica4u hopes of hitting a good flop were dashed right away when a third 6 was second out the door (8c,6c,3s). A second 3 on the turn made this one official and beny76xx was thrilled to be crowned the champion.

Final table results:

1 beny76xx $24147.00; 2 jessica4u $18000.00; 3 ILoveMyShoes $13500.00; 4 Zchronicle $9750.00; 5 AlanWatts $7200.00; 6 birdmchale3332 $5700.00; 7 zbassy12 $4200.00; 8 g2jhsjhs $2700.00; 9 Nev3rBluff5 $2100.00

Event #35: Main Event High - $200,000 Guaranateed NLH Freezeout – ($500+30 buy-in)

The final event of Poker Maximus II was a high stakes $200K guaranteed tournament with a $500 +30 buy-in. Of course players could have qualified for this tournament via the satellites earlier in the 10-day period but once all was said and done, 468 players sat down to try and take down the big one. Not surprisingly with all this money up for grabs and the talent level of players significantly deeper, this Main Event took the longest to complete in just over 11.5 hours. The $49,842 1st place prize came down to two very talented poker players in PLAYNWITHNADA and ImASingleLady and after a gruelling head-up match, it was PLAYNWITHNADA who came out on top and claimed the big prize in Poker Maximus II.

A preflop min-raise from ImASingleLady got the action started as she held a monster in pocket 10’s. PLAYNWITHNADA held Kh,6h and had no issue with calling and seeing a flop. When the cards came out Jh,9h,6c, PLAYNWITHNADA checked again and faced another bet from his opponent. However, instead of calling this time, he decided to shove all in with his bottom pair and flush draw, hoping to take it down right then and there. ImASingleLady was having none of that though with her 10’s and called, flipping her cards over. A Jd on the turn changed nothing but when a Qh fell on the river, PLAYNWITHNADA had hit his flush and was nearly $50,000 richer because of it.

1 PLAYNWITHNADA $49842.00; 2 ImASingleLady $33930.00; 3 ther4v3n $22815.00; 4 SOLOMUN $16380.00; 5 CreepShot $14040.00; 6 jrice12 $11700.00; 7 LaJune $9360.00; 8 BIGBLUFFER3aces $7020.00; 9 Noxximus21 $4680.00

Congrats to all those that took part in Poker Maximus II, and those who were lucky enough to take down a title. It was another great event and it will only continue to grow in the future.  Play Online Poker for Free or Real Money at Carbon Poker Here
