Event #4: $7,500 Guaranteed PLO8 – ($30+3 buy-in)

429 players entered the first Omaha tournament of Poker Maximus III and with all those participants the final prize pool increased to just under $13,000.

The final hand saw thotpolice84 and wutabout do battle on the virtual felt, both vying for that $2700 first prize. Thotpolice84 opened with a raise preflop and was met with a raise to which he called. A flop of 2c,Ts,Ac, brought an all-in bet by wutabout on the short stack and thotpolice84 was more than happy to call with top pair. Wutabout actually haw him beat with his Ad,2d,Qs,4h but when the Jh came on the turn thotpolice84 made a better two pair with As,8h,3d,Jd. The river was a blank 9d and thotpolice84 emerged victorious.

1 thotpolice84 $2741.32; 2 wutabout $1866.16; 3 BallZach $1254.83; 4 emeraldjane $900.91; 5 RockStar91 $772.21 6 gwsanche1 $643.51; 7 thedtrain1 $514.81; 8 CAMelot01 $386.11; 9 ethan23 $257.41

Event #5: $35,000 Guaranteed NLH – ($100+9 buy-in)

Event #5 was back to NL Hold’em and with it being the most prevailant form of poker these days, it attracted a lot of attention. 382 players either qualified through satellite or ponied up the $100+9 entry fee and went to war. In the end two very good players, horseradish2 and Weslo18 were left and it was the former that came through.

On the final hand, it was Weslo18 forcing the action as he shoved all in over horseradish2’s initial raise with his Ac,Qh. Horseradish2 decided calling with his K-10 suited was the best play and although he was initially beat, a flop of Ks,2d,6s changed that. A Tc on the turn strengthened his hand and unless a J came down on the river he would hold on. The final card was a 5h and horseradish2 held on for the $8700 first place prize.

1 horseradish2 $8786.00; 2 Weslo18 $5997.40; 3 Miwa2906 $3820.00; 4 MonoYark $2865.00; 5 thebattler33 $2330.20; 6 Saitoti $1910.00; 7 MrMatt2u $1489.80; 8 mrobinett3                 $1107.80; 9 bk1048 $840.40

Event #6: $20,000 Guaranteed NLH rebuy – ($10+1 buy-in)

The final event of the day was a low-buy-in rebuy Hold’em event as they are always fan favorites during the Poker Maximus series. Over 800 players entered this tournament and when it was all said and done, the final prize pool reached a final number of nearly $25,000. With that many players though, the eventual winner would need to grind it out and that’s exactly what Zapstar3311 did.

In the deciding hand it was Zapstar3311 putting all the pressure on Morgan2012 and after yet another pre-flop raise from Zapstar3311, Morgan2012 had finally caught a hand (Ah,Ks) and re-raised all-in. When Zapstar3311 called the 3.3 million chip raise (blinds were 60/120K) Morgan2012 knew he had run into something good and had to hope his AK would hit. Well, Zapstar3311 flipped over pocket 10’s and when the board showed 2h,3d,3h,8s,Qd his 10’s held on and he was the champion.

Final table results:

1 Zapstar3311 $4649.31; 2 Morgan2012poker $2948.64; 3 Trauernicht $2165.60; 4 thedtrain1 $1590.56; 5 Heisenberg77 $1260.21; 6 S0undSystem $978.81; 7 zatikyany21 $758.58; 8 TennisGolfandPoker $587.29; 9 GoMukYerSelf $464.94
