Event #4: $15,000 Guaranteed PLO8 – ($30+3 buy-in)

The first Omaha tournament of PM IV was Event #4 and after nearly 500 players signed up the total prize pool was a little over $16,000. It came down to gottamonster25 and Messias1 for the lion’s share of that money in the end as both players had played phenomenally during the entire tournament.

But there can only be one winner and it was Messias1 who came out on top. Holding 5s,6c,Ac,2c, Messias1 had a very good hand to catch the high and the low of the pot and that’s exactly what he did. The board came out 7s,As,8d,Kh,4h, giving him the best hand with an 8-high straight and the low hand with A-2-4-5-7. There wasn’t much gottamonster25 could do with his 3h,Kc,Qs,5d but accept defeat graciously and take the $2,000 consolation prize for finishing 2nd.

1 Messias1 $3252.01; 2 gottamonster25 $2021.12; 3 City13 $1544.71; 4 AlydarRules $1138.21; 5 therealzestfulyclean $853.66; 6 freefj4caps $650.41; 7 FlushWithCash $487.81; 8 diuigks $406.51; 9 theoriginaldrunkluck $325.21

Event #5: $40,000 Guaranteed NLH – ($100+9 buy-in)

After the 493 players that took a shot at this tournament registered, the $40K in guaranteed money was bumped up nearly $10K to $50,000 and the winner would take home over $10K themselves. After they outlasted everyone else, BeWater and MJAY33 were the final two standing and played each other very tough all the way until the end.

Sometimes the final hand in a tournament doesn’t tell the full story of a heads-up battle and that’s precisely what we had in Event #5. After taking a tough loss for nearly all his chips the hand before, MJAY33 wasn’t even left with enough chips to post a full ante and then was dealt 7-2 offsuit to boot. There was a glimmer of hope when the flop came down 2d,6h,5c but when the 3h fell on the turn BeWater had made a straight with his Td,4d and MJAY33 needed a 4 of his own on the river to catch a better straight. Well, the 6d fell on the river, mercifully ending MJAY33’s great tournament run and giving BeWater the title and $10.5K in 1st place prize money.

1 BeWater $10500.90; 2 MJAY33 $7148.50; 3 JUDGEJAM $4806.75; 4 Dwl2987 $3451.00; 5 havesumtea $2958.00; 6 ABBABBA $2465.00; 7 EnderWig $1972.00; 8 Sh0tT1me6 $1479.00; 9 dabigdog99 $986.00

Event #6: $25,000 Guaranteed NLH rebuy – ($10+1 buy-in)

The $10 rebuy events during Poker Maximus series’ are always one of the most popular and Event #6 was no different. 1051 players tried their hand at outlasting this monster field and claiming the $5700 1st place prize, but only itsMoneyBuBu and theDOCTORofORANGE could claim the best chance at it. These two were able to outlast everyone else and battle heads up for the title in Event #6.

Sometimes in the latter stages of tournaments with the blinds getting larger and larger, you simply have to find a good starting hand and shove all-in. Well on the short stack, itsMoneyBuBu got pocket 8’s and that’s exactly what he did. TheDOCTORofORANGE didn’t mind his starting hand either (A-8) and decided he should try to end this tournament right here and made the call. When an Ace came through the door with the first card (Ah,3d,Jh), itsMoneyBuBu needed to find that one remaining 8 in the deck to keep his tournament hopes alive. Chances were slimmer than slim he would find it and when the 7s and 2c fell on the turn and river it was official; theDOCTORofORANGE was Event #6’s champion and nearly $6000 richer.

Final table results:

1 theDOCTORofORANGE $5783.11; 2 itsMoneyBuBu $3935.64; 3 C0NNECT0RZ $2578.96; 4 WHODAMAN11 $1953.76; 5 nismo3117 $1484.86; 6 nykfanatic11 $1172.26; 7 PafJaakkima $937.81; 8 luvamaxin $750.25; 9 mloya2780 $593.95

Don’t forget there are four more great events going on later today in Poker Maximus IV. They range from $10 to $100 buy-ins and include No Limit Hold’em events, a Limit Hold’em tournament and even another Omaha event.
