Poker Player Goes on Another Bank Robbery Spree
2015 Borgata Summer Open winner Thomas Dougher is up to his old tricks again.
Having served three years in prison for robbing banks in 2007, the 40-year-old has once again been caught on surveillance allegedly robbing five different banks. Two robberies were committed in the Atlantic City area over a four-day period. In addition to two other bank robberies near the gambling resort city, Dougher is also accused of holding up a bank in Newark, Delaware.
Dougher ’s past robbing spree spanned at least 6 counties in two U.S states, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Just as with that case, Dougher did not try to hide his identity. The captured image of bank video surveillance showing Dougher allegedly robbing one of the banks was posted on Twitter two days after Christmas. His capture took place on this past Friday morning.
Dougher was taken into custody about 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Quality Inn in the 1000 block of the Black Horse Pike in Atlantic City.
Police believe the poker player may be responsible for a total of nine recent bank robberies in four different states.
The vehicle Dougher used during the robberies, a silver Mazda 6 stolen from Maryland, was subsequently located in the parking garage of Caesars Atlantic City by Pleasantville police.
Assisting agencies included police departments in Absecon, Atlantic City and Egg Harbor Township, and Caesars security, Hartman said.
