Poker Tournament News: Asian Poker Tour Expanded, Jamie Gold Joins Irish Open

Officials on the Chinese offshore gambling island of Macau have given the Asian Poker Tour permission to expand its popular Macau event.  Among those slated to participate in the August 12 to 23 mega event, Chili Poker hottie Lisa Lieu (pictured). 

Last year, the event attracted the likes of Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, John Juanda, Huck Seed, Todd Brunson, Kenny Tran and David "Chino" Rheem.

The APT was initially owned by Singapore-based Capital Events Pte. Together with online poker room Betfair, the group launched the first APT event in Singapore in 2006. Held in November, the tournament was won by poker player Tony G.

In early 2008, the APT was acquired by AsianLogic, an Asia-Pacific online and land-based gaming company. Capital Events remains a shareholder in the Tour and retains the control and responsibility for poker events in Singapore. Another shareholder in the deal is the Korean Professional Poker Tour (KPPT), which is the APT's exclusive partner in Korea.

The buy-ins for this event were set at buy-ins set at €3,200 + €300.
