PokerStars pro Randy “Nanonoko” Lew was looking to set a new world record for the number of poker hands played.  The event was slated for The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January and will be held live.

From PokerFuse.com

Specifics of the world record – how long it will last and how many hands he will try to play – has not yet been set. Today’s announcement comes after PokerStars posted publicly on the 2+2 poker forums soliciting ideas for a new record.

“Nanonoko” is recognized as one of the highest volume poker players around today.  He tends to play 24-tables at mid-to-high-stakes NL, often averaging 150,000 hands a month.
