An individual who ran the now shuttered Bitcoin-only online poker room Seals With Clubs from his Las Vegas home, Bryan Micon, has plead guilty to running what authorities say was an illegal and unlicensed site.

It was the first time that action had been taken against a Bitcoin operator in the Internet gambling space.

A hearing occurred on Thursday whereby Micon avoided up to ten years prison time.

Micon is expected to be placed on probation and pay a $25,000 fine.

Attorney Richard Schonfeld also stated that his client would have to give up computers, $900 in cash, and a number of bitcoins confiscated during a February 11 police raid that led to the closure of Seals With Clubs.

Since the closure of Micon’s online poker site, a handful of other more mainstream and established websites like Americas Cardroom have begun offering the anonymous digital currency with great success.
