Yesterday, Monday, July 5th, the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event got underway with the first of 4 day 1's. The night before, there was a special party and it was not held to ring in Independence Day. Instead, the celebration was the addition of actress turned poker player Shannon Elizabeth as the newest sponsored pro at online poker site, Carbon Poker. In the past, Elizabeth has had brief working relationships with other online sites, but this time both parties expect the partnership to be longer lasting.
In a statement, Carbon Poker spokesperson Peter Hampton said of the signing,
"We've been on the hunt for a face for our brand who is a recognized star and also a respected member of the poker community. Shannon easily meets both criteria and offers a creative edge that we're thrilled to have on board. We're launching several promotions that will involve players playing against Shannon and getting to know her both inside and outside of poker."
Carbon Poker must be thrilled to have such a highly recognizable face to attach to their growing brand, which now sits in 16th place worldwide in terms of average customers at cash tables at any given time.
The announcement came at a time in which when the entire poker world is watching the happenings at the Rio. Though she has never cashed in a bracelet event with a buy in greater than $2,000, Elizabeth has cashed on three separate occasions while her greatest poker accomplishment to date was a final four finish at the 2007 National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
In addition to sporting Carbon Poker paraphernalia, Elizabeth will be a regular contributor to their blog along with a video diary. Her star power and looks alone is expected to draw in players to the site
