Could the world’s largest “real money” online poker company, PokerStars, be looking at entering the sports betting and casino market?

Stars recently sent out surveys asking about their customers betting habits including whether they regularly place sports bets or have ever gambled on an online casino.

PokerStars may be preparing to go head-to-head with its closest rival, bwin.party, which currently operates an online sportsbook and offers casino games.  Bwin is the largest bookmaker in the world.

Last month, PokerStars settled a legal matter with the US Government, which will require the firm to pay a substantial fine.   The company can also move forward with its acquisition of one time rival Full Tilt Poker.
