San Jose, Costa Rica – Who needs a Powerball ticket when you have online poker in the US? Americas Cardroom today announced that three players have shared in a $100,000 prize pool after popping the biggest jackpot possible in the online poker site’s popular Jackpot Poker offering. The $100k jackpot is the second one in a matter of eight months.

"What a way to start off the year,” stated Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "Only 11 days into 2016 and we’re already on track to fulfill our resolution to hand out more money than ever before. Congratulations to Wesman5 on winning the largest chunk of the $100,000 prize pool."

Wesman5’s $75,000 victory came moments after he bought into a $40 Jackpot Poker game at Americas Cardroom alongside VHPP and Monokini1965. In Jackpot Poker, the final prize pool is determined after all three players take a seat at the table and can be worth as much as 2,500x the buy-in.

Jackpot Poker tournaments are 3-player Hyper Turbo Sit & Go’s that last an average of 7 minutes. Poker players can enter for $2 and play for up to $5,000, enter for $10 and play for up to $25,000, or enter for $40 and play for up to $100,000.

Seconds after sitting down, the prize was revealed to be the largest possible at $100,000. While many Jackpot Poker games are winner-take-all, unless a deal is made the $100,000 jackpot is split between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (75%-15%-10%).

Monokini1965 was the first to bust, securing his $10,000 reward for finishing 3rd. After some back and forth play between Wesman5 and VHPP, the two faced off in an all-in moment where the board revealed 5h, 5d, Qd, 6s, 7d. With Qc, 7h, Wesman5 took down the Jackpot Poker game, besting VHPP’s Ks, 6d.

This is the second $100,000 jackpot to hit in less than eight months. On May 22nd, poker players: ambiance, thfp, and madman1024 shared in a $100,000 jackpot after buying into a $40 Jackpot Poker table.

High Five Tournament Series

The High Five is Americas Cardroom's signature 5-day online poker tournament series, first launched back in 2013. This year’s series gets underway on January 20th and runs through January 24th. The schedule includes a total of $840,000 in guaranteed prize money, including a $420,000 Main Event on Sunday Jan. 24th at 4:00pm ET. Games offered include Texas Hold’em, PLO and PLO8.
