Tom Dwan's 'Girlfriend' Phil Galfond

And online poker’s biggest winners for the month of August were…. Ben "Ben86” Tollerene and Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond.  We’ll explain the “Tom Dwan Girlfriend” comment below.  It’s pretty funny really and not meant to be a shot at Galfond as you will soon see.

From HighStakesDB.com

There were some big winners in August, and none biggest than Ben "Ben86” Tollerene who has had an unusually volatile year himself. Tollerene struggled in the first few months of 2012 to break even before enjoying a spectacular +$1.3 million month in April to put him firmly in the black. Since then however it all went wrong for Ben86 as he lost over a million dollars between the start of May and the end of July. August however has seen another great surge from the young American online pro as he topped the months leader board, posting another +$1.3 million win. Not far behind showing close to a $900k profit for August after being absent from the online game for a couple of months was Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond who enjoyed some great form in the big games to approach $2 million in profit for the year at PokerStars high stakes tables.

Tollerene is a 25-year-old American online pro who specializes in high stakes PLO tables, often playing the highest games available.  On the live circuit, Tollerence cashed out four times at this year's World Series of Poker.

Galfond is a 27-year-old player from Maryland who currently relocated to Canada after that state aggressively launched a campaign to block the majority of online poker sites still catering to US players.  Galfond is also a 2008 World Series of Poker bracelet winner.

Something pretty funny to share.  When we went to Google Image in search of an updated photo of Phil Galfond, after typing his name in we got a related search for “Tom Dwan’s Girlfriend”.  It was the ONLY related search.  Go figure.
