Two Get Jail Sentences for Illegal Poker Game in New Jersey
TRENTON – (Associated Press) - Two southern New Jersey men have received jail terms for running an illegal poker club inside a storefront.
Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced Friday that 43-year-old Thomas Rand of Williamstown and 33-year-old Ryan Dion of Blackwood were sentenced Friday.
Rand received a 270-day jail sentence and Dion was sentenced to 364 days. Both pleaded guilty to promoting gambling. Three other men who were dealers and cashiers received probation
Authorities say Rand and Dion operated the Runnemede Social Club out of a storefront in Runnemede, in Camden County, that had a sign for a health club out front.
Rand also admitted running an illegal off-shore gambling website from which he collected 10 percent of every losing bet.
