Selbst, who is considered one of the world’s best tournament poker players, is currently ranked 60th in the All Time Money List, and second (behind Kathy Liebert) in the Women’s All Time Money List.  Selbst needs $276,038 in tournament winnings to overtake Liebert, and making the final table in the Super High Roller Event at the PCA would likely make her the highest-earning woman in poker history. She said of her decision to enter: “I’m super excited to get a chance to play against some great players and great friends. I’ve been working a lot on my game, and I feel very confident about my chances.”

The Super High Roller tournament is the debut event in the 10-day poker festival, heralding the official start of the 10th anniversary PCA tournament at the Atlantis resort which features a total of 40 events from January 5-14 with buy-ins starting from $300, as well as a host of other competitions and promotions. So far, a total of 34 of the world’s best players have confirmed their attendance in the Super High Roller, taking the prize pool to a massive $3,332,000.

The list of players confirmed includes:

  •  Jonathan Duhamel
  •  Daniel Negreanu
  •  Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
  •  Phil Hellmuth
  •  Philipp Gruissem
  •  Isaac Haxton
  •  Justin Bonomo
  •  John Juanda
  •  Eugene Katchalov
  •  Tom Marchese
  •  Jason Mercier
  •  Bill Perkins
  •  Scott Seiver
  •  Dan Shak

David Carrion, Director of Live Operations for the PCA said: “We’re extremely pleased to have had such a fantastic response to this year’s PCA Super High Roller event. It really is one of the most exciting tournaments on the live poker circuit, and with so many of the world’s best players confirmed to play, it looks like it will be an explosive three days of poker, and a fitting start to our 10th PCA celebrations.”

This is the third year that the $100,000 Super High Roller event has been featured on the PCA schedule. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov was the first player to take home the title when he won $1.5 million back in 2010 after a nail-biting heads-up battle against Daniel Negreanu. Online high-stakes legend Viktor Blom then stormed to victory in 2011, taking out 29 players on his way to collect the trophy and the $1.25 million first prize.
