Americas Cardroom will continue offering its weekend marathon rake races using the popular dealt-distribution method throughout the month of February. The top prize awarded will be $2000 with $750 awarded to the 2nd place finisher. Everyone who finishes in the top 125 cash out in fact.
ACR representative Julius Maxwell tells Gambling911.com: “These $10k sprints are the coolest. With the monthly rake races, there are always times when players might have to take a hiatus for one reason or another and lose their place in the rake race. The marathon rake races are designed for those who have regular 9-5 jobs. They start going Friday and end at midnight on Sunday. Just like that, you can make a quick $2k.”
Americas Cardroom is one of the only online poker rooms that still offer the dealt distribution method when it comes to these marathon sprints.
PokerStars recently changed over to the weighted method and many of that website’s “tighter” players have made the leap from Stars to Americas Card Room over the past few weeks.
Maxwell tells us that peak cash play is now between 700 to 900 players and the tournaments will often have more.
With the dealt distribution method, as long as you are dealt hands, you will be credited with 10 percent if say there are 10 people at a table. The pot is divided equally among those 10 players regardless of whether you contributed to the pot or not.
With the weighted distribution method, if you contributed 10 percent to the pot, you would get back 10 percent of what the rake is. This method tends to favor those who play a lot more hands.
“Players favor the dealt distribution method and that is what we are providing them with,” said Mr. Maxwell.
Americas Cardroom also offers payouts that typically occur between 7 to 14 business days for those in North America, well above the industry norm.
